COMPANIES OFFER A FREE ALARM SYSTEM

Don't be fooled by free offers. We know that companies are not in business to give away free systems without benefiting. How do they recover their investment? Simple. They will require a contract, usually at least three years, for monitoring. Because the monthly rate is usually between $35 and $45 per month or more, it is clear that, during that contract, you are paying for the equipment.

But there are additional catches. The main one is that, after the initial contract period, it will automatically renew at the same rate (or sometimes even higher). You would think that, after recovering the cost of the equipment, the rate would be reduced. BUT, according to these companies, they maintain that the equipment was free and that the monitoring cost is now the same as you originally agreed! In effect, you are paying for monitoring and buying your equipment over and over, every three years!

“THE COST IS THE SAME FOR CELLULAR SERVICE”

But it shouldn't be. This means that they are charging more than necessary for landline service, if they can offer cellular, with the cost of the cellular provider's subscription and service for the same monthly rate. For expample, if they charge $16.95 per month for either one, then the landline customer is subsidizing the cellular user, or simply overpaying. Our landline monthly rate is $15.95. We believe it is fair to only charge for the services we provide, and if additional services are needed or desired, charging a fair additional amoiunt for that.

The truth is that with cellular service, our current monthly cost is $20.45. Cheaper to go with the "one price for all" provider, right? Not necessarily. They offer an option that nearly everyone sees as a significant benefit: being able to arm/disarm or check your alarm from your smartphone. It is a very worthwhile feature. However, for this, they add an additional $7 to your monthly bill, bringing it to $23.95. Oops! Again, our straightforward pricing is a better value, because it is included in our lower charge. We don't play any games with our pricing. Always low. Always fair. That's the way it should be.
